Job Description

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologists are responsible for the use of radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform magnetic resonance imaging and acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Responsibilities

Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified, and clinical history is documented while respecting confidentiality.

Utilize appropriate imaging protocols and optimize technical factors while prioritizing patient safety and applying ALARA principles.

Prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with laws and institutional policy.

Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality, verifying archival storage and data transfer when applicable.

Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.

Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risks to patients and staff.

Assist licensed practitioners with magnetic resonance interventional procedures as needed.

Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties.

Participate in quality or process improvement activities within the modality.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required).

Minimum of 2 years of related work experience (Required).

Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) and ARRT-MR or ARMRIT.

Basic Life Support Certification.

Additional certifications in Nuclear Medicine as applicable.
