Job Summary

This position will support the Instructional Design Associate Consultant and other team members, to contribute to the development and design of a wide variety of instructional materials in support of the research enterprise at Ohio State. Projects include a mix of academic course materials, long-term resource development, as well as short context-specific resource development.

Assist in the development of academic content in support of a graduate-level course delivering instruction in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), designed to meet federal-funder expectations, primarily the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation.

Long-term resource development would include materials designed to support principal investigators (PIs) throughout the research cycle; content for research administrators; and content for research support staff. Resource development would also support a transition in research-related software.

Other resource development includes supporting the creation of short context-specific online training in support of the OSU research community in regulated research processes. The Specialist will help adapt and format context and work collaboratively with subject matter experts to support the continuous improvement of learning experiences.

This role combines knowledge of instructional design principles with practical experience in course development, pedagogy, and digital learning technologies to deliver high-quality, accessible, and inclusive materials that reflect best practices in teaching and learning.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2 years of experience in instructional design and online course development.

Experience in working collaboratively in a complex organization.

Experience with eLearning authoring tools, preferably Articulate.

Requires successful completion of a background check.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related discipline or equivalent experience.

Demonstrated expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design, and online pedagogy.

Experience in applying accessibility standards, such as WCAG, to online learning environments.

Professional working experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programs.

Basic experience with videography, including basic video editing.

Strong project management skills and the ability to lead multiple concurrent initiatives.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage projects, and translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Additional Information:

The pay range for this job opening is $55,700.00 - $72,700.00. The salary offer for this position will fall within this range based on the candidate's qualifications, internal equity, and the unit's available budget, which will be the primary determining factor.

The individual in this role will be most successful being flexible and adaptable to competing project priorities directed by our leadership. We also work as a team on-site, and while hours may vary, the individual will be expected to be available during standard business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).
