Overview
The retail pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications, providing expert guidance on prescription and over-the-counter drugs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering excellent customer service.Frequent independent judgments are essential.
Duties
Accurately fill and dispense prescriptions.
Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriate dosage, and potential interactions.
Provide clear instructions on how to use medications.
Educate patients on potential side effects and interactions with other drugs or food.
Offer advice on over-the-counter medications and general health concerns.
Build relationships with customers and ensure satisfaction.
Address patient concerns and resolve complaints promptly.
Monitor and maintain stock levels of medications and supplies.
Place orders and ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products.
Remove expired or recalled medications from shelves.
Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff.
Experience
Candidates should possess a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution. Previous experience in a setting is preferred. Strong skills in medication administration, patient service, systems management, and inventory management are essential for success in this role. Pharmacist License in the state practicing pharmacy Required.
