Backend Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Lead Java Elasticsearch Engineer, youll guide a skilled POD team in designing and building scalable data solutions that power real-time analytics and ESG insights. Youll drive architecture decisions, develop high-performance APIs, and integrate complex data pipelines across GCP, BigQuery, and Elasticsearch. This role offers the opportunity to shape impactful, cloud-native systems at scale while mentoring engineers in an agile, innovation-driven environment.

MUST HAVES

- 5+ years of experience in backend or data engineering roles;

- Strong programming skills in Java 17+ with Spring Boot experience;

- Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, including index design and query optimization for real-time search and analytics;

- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, BigQuery);

- Hands-on experience with GCP or other cloud platforms;

- Solid grasp of distributed systems and API design;

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes);

- Experience developing low-latency APIs;

- Familiarity with DevOps setups and Agile/Scrum environments;

- Upper-Intermediate English level.

NICE TO HAVES

- Databricks, PySpark, Python;

- BigQuery SQL;

- Additional GCP Cloud experience;

- Frontend experience with React.js or AngularJS.
