About Us

Nutmeg Table Company builds made-to-order furniture from solid American hardwoods in our Connecticut workshop. We ship nationwide and also deliver to homes and businesses across New England and the NYC metro area. We’re a small, hands-on team, and we’re looking for an entry-level woodworker who can also serve as our local delivery driver—someone who’s comfortable both in the shop and on the road.

About the Role

This is a hybrid position: part entry-level woodworker, part local delivery driver. Most days will be spent in the shop helping prep and build custom furniture like dining tables and vanities. While we ship many of our pieces nationwide, local deliveries across New England and NYC come up regularly—typically around 5 times a month.

When it’s time to deliver, you’ll be responsible for loading our Dodge ProMaster van and bringing pieces directly to clients’ homes. Most deliveries include basic in-home setup, and we’ll walk you through everything ahead of time. A clean driving record and confidence behind the wheel—especially in city settings like NYC—are essential.

For lighter deliveries, we may only send one person. For larger installs, another team member will join you.

Responsibilities

Assist in building and finishing custom furniture, from rough milling to final prep

Safely load and transport furniture across New England and NYC

Provide professional, friendly service during deliveries, including basic in-home setup

Keep the delivery van clean and organized

Help pack and prep outgoing shipments

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop

Bonus: CAD experience is a plus, but not required

Requirements

Familiarity with power tools (jointer, planer, table saw, etc.) preferred - we're happy to train the right person

At least 1 year of shop, trades, or furniture assembly experience preferred

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Comfortable driving a large van in both rural and urban areas (including NYC)

Able to lift and carry 100+ lbs safely

Accurate measuring skills and solid basic math

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Positive, professional attitude with both coworkers and clients

Background and drug screening required

Job Details

Location: Waterbury, CT

Full-time; schedule includes shop days and scheduled delivery days (averaging 1 per week)

Starting pay: $19.50/hr
