Structual Design Engineer

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join a well respected small-to-mid-size engineering firm in Columbus, OH. The Structural Engineer will design and manage projects across commercial buildings, multi-family residential, and mixed-use developments. You’ll work with steel, concrete, masonry, and wood, using STAD, RAM, and Revit Structure, while mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with building codes.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead structural design projects using STAD, RAM, and Revit Structure software.

· Design and analyze structures composed of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.

· Review and apply building codes, materials specifications, and construction standards.

· Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications.

· Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.

· Mentor and guide junior engineers and team members.

· Perform site visits and inspections (~10% travel).

· Ensure quality control, safety, and compliance throughout all project phases.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

· 8–15 years of professional structural engineering experience.

· Proficiency in STAD, RAM, and Revit Structure; experience with other structural software is a plus.

· Strong understanding of commercial and residential construction practices.

· In-depth knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structural systems.

· Familiarity with relevant building codes and regulations.

· Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills.
