Position Overview

The Vice President of Population Health & Health Outcomes is a pivotal leadership role dedicated to crafting and executing innovative strategies aimed at elevating member health outcomes. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, you will lead a talented team of Directors and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our initiatives are well-aligned, effectively implemented, and consistently enhanced.

This role emphasizes the importance of a robust population health strategy that not only meets business objectives but also fosters the current and future health of members, aligning with both Centene's goals and the Ohio Department of Medicaid's vision. While primarily focusing on Medicaid, collaboration with partners in Medicare and Marketplace initiatives will also be essential to share best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Develop, implement, and refine a comprehensive population health strategy aimed at enhancing member health outcomes while aligning with business objectives.

Lead initiatives focused primarily on Medicaid, while collaborating with colleagues handling Medicare and Marketplace programs.

Transform the organizational vision into actionable strategies with measurable outcomes.

Act as a trusted advisor regarding population health strategies within the senior leadership team.

Operational Execution

Drive effective implementation of initiatives with a focus on accountability, measuring outcomes, and aligning resources accordingly.

Translate strategic goals into actionable operational systems and performance standards.

Ensure population health initiatives are integrated across clinical, operational, and financial functions for consistency and compliance.

Continuously assess program performance and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Regulatory & Corporate Collaboration

Establish and maintain solid partnerships with the state Medicaid regulator to ensure compliance and success.

Work with corporate teams to align local initiatives with broader enterprise strategies.

Partner with Medicare and Marketplace leaders to ensure integrated approaches and shared insights.

Collaborate with internal teams across operations, finance, and other functions to achieve organization-wide objectives.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

Develop trusted relationships with regulators, providers, community partners, and internal stakeholders to achieve mutual goals.

Serve as a representative for population health initiatives, effectively communicating strategies and outcomes to various stakeholders, including the Board and community representatives.

Proactively engage stakeholders to anticipate and address their needs and concerns.

Vendor & Partner Management

Manage relationships with key vendors to assure program success and accountability.

Negotiate contracts to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

Team Leadership & Development

Mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Delegate effectively while ensuring team accountability and ownership.

Education/Experience:

Preferred qualifications include a current state RN license and previous experience in managed care organizations. Leadership experience of 3+ years is required. A Master’s degree or similar advanced degree in nursing, social work, health services research, health policy, or relevant fields is necessary.

The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of five years in progressively responsible roles in population health, service coordination, or case management, demonstrating relevant knowledge and skills. Candidates must reside or be willing to relocate to Ohio.

Pay Range: $176,900.00 - $336,600.00 annually
