Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid role, 3 days in office Tues/Weds/Thur)
Duration: 12+ Months contract to Hire (11/3/2025 to 11/2/2026)

Description Summary
These roles will be staffed as Solution Architects within the Customer Transformation program. Interested candidates should have in depth knowledge of SAP and deep technical experience implementing SAP systems. Specific working knowledge of SAP BTP is also required. Customer experience across a utility platform while not required, is highly encouraged. Candidates should possess strong solution-oriented skills, be able to design system architectures, and publish/follow architectural standards.
The SAP Principal IT Engineer in the NiSource IT department supports the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for various products and platforms. This role involves working on an agile product and platform teams that requires hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and collaborating within cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The Principal IT Engineer will need in depth knowledge of SAP with deep technical experience implementing SAP systems. In this role specific working knowledge of SAP BTP is paramount. The SAP Principal IT Engineer will also need solution-oriented skills, be able to design system architectures, and publish and follow architectural standards.
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Technical Support: Assist in the design, development, and implementation of solutions for assigned technical product/platform
Solution Development: Develop and implement solutions that enhance the functionality and performance of assigned products or platforms
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
Code/ configuration Review and Quality Assurance: Participate in reviews and ensure that solutions meet quality standards and best practices
Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve technical issues, providing support and maintenance for existing systems
Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to innovation and continuous improvement in platform solutions You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
10+ yearsof IT product or platform engineering or software development experience
5+ yearsof experience in Salesforce development
5+ years of experience in SAP development
5+ yearsof experience building and managing integration using APIs and Mulesoft
7+ years' experience as an Architect or Engineer
1+ years of experience in project management
Ability to work effectively in an outsourced IT environment
Experience with and knowledge of legacy and new computing architectures
Experience with managing technology costs
Experience working with a variety of technologies within a domain
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or relevant work experience Responsibilities:
An IT Engineer will:
Implement strategies to consolidate and protect IT assets
Maintain inventory of IT assets and related configuration
Collaborate closely with Architects and IT staff to drive NiSource objectives
Ensure adherence to standards and reference architectures for the domain
Develop / review design artifacts for compliance with architecture direction
Update product standards versions in assigned domains
Drive technology portfolio management discipline
Direct implementation of technology roadmap initiatives
Implement best practices and standards
Identify and manage technology risks
Communicate clearly and effectively with architecture, project / program managers etc.
Provide recommendations to be considered in developing the Technology roadmap Comments/Special Instructions:

Pay rate: $59.54-$72.93/hr depending on experience
