Candidate must be local to Columbus, Ohio for consideration.
MUST HAVE:
• Valid Driver's License.
• Vehicle or Reliable Transportation.
• ASL - American Sign Language (OSD Only)
• Ability to work onsite weekdays, after school, evenings, and on call hours (including Professional Development Training or Continuing Education Training when school is closed)
• Ability to lift 30-100 pounds.
• Ability to ergonomically perform navigational task with student (push, pull, lift).
• Ability to clear federal background check and drug screens.
Essential Functions:
• Assisting PreK-12 blind/deaf children and teachers in executing programs focused on academics, vocational,
independent living, transitional and social growth.
• Redirecting students when difficulties arise.
• Supervising students in classroom cafeteria, hallways, playground, restroom.
• Assisting students on/off transportation vehicles.
• Escorting students to different areas of the school.
• Assisting in emergency situations.
• Assisting students with emotional, physical and personal needs.
• Remaining with assigned student the entire time they are on campus until hand off to/from transportation or dorm aide each day/evening.
• Assisting in other day to day general tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
• 1-3 years as a Home Healthcare Aide or Classroom Student Aide experience.
• Degree in Early Childhood Education or Special Education preferred.
• Experience working with autistic or MD children preferred.
• Ability to lift 30-100 pounds.
• Ability to ergonomically perform navigational task with student (push, pull, lift).
• CPI Certification Preferred.
• CPR Certification Preferred.
• ASL American Sign Language skills - or the desire to learn ASL
• Educational Aide Permit- (preferred).
