Within Dr. Barber’s lab, the position will perform basic research using molecular, genetic, microscopy and computational methods to study the biology of cell wall homeostasis in the Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis. Additional tasks will include keeping inventory of reagents and bacterial strains; participating with other group members to maintain consumables and clean glassware in the laboratory; helping to place and set up new lab equipment; shipping and receiving reagents; learning and staying up to date on relevant literature; attending weekly lab meetings and journal clubs; assisting with mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students; and assisting with data organization in preparation for publication.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or equivalent experience. Three years of relevant experience.

Desired: Master's degree in Biological Science. Experience in fluorescence microscopy, molecular cloning and/or biochemical methods.

The pay range for this job profile is $51,500 - $67,250. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
