Position Summary
The Career Coordinator plays a pivotal role in enhancing the career readiness of students. The Career Coordinator is expected to provide personalized guidance, resources, and support, to assist students in preparing for successful and meaningful careers. The Career Coordinator serves as liaison with area businesses and industries to help promote the programs offered at the college and expand work-based learning and employment opportunities. The Career Coordinator will provide one-on-one and group training opportunities for all aspects of career services to ensure students have the opportunity and skills to obtain a high wage/ high demand job.
Grant-Funded (ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule C3 with a maximum of $50,000 annually). Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding. This is a non-tenure track position; Non-Probationary Status cannot be obtained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Career Coordinator will perform the following duties (including, but not limited to):
Student Career Readiness Support
• Provide individualized career counseling and coaching to students regarding career exploration, job search strategies, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, professional networking, and workplace readiness skills.
• Facilitate workshops, classroom presentations, and career-related programs to improve students' job search abilities and professional development.
• Administer and interpret career assessments to support students in making informed decisions about majors, career pathways, and employment options.
• Guide students in the effective use of career resources, including online job boards, labor market information, and employer directories.
• Support students in developing career action plans that align academic preparation with career goals.
• Maintain records of student interactions, career outcomes, and other relevant data to track the impact of career coaching services and make improvements as needed.
Employer and Community Engagement
• Establish and maintain relationships with local, regional, and state employers to develop internship, cooperative education, apprenticeship, and full-time employment opportunities for students.
• Collaborate with employers to organize career fairs, on-campus recruiting events, and industry-focused networking sessions.
• Partner with community organizations, workforce agencies, and alumni to expand available career resources and employment connections.
Track and promote job, internship, apprenticeship postings to ensure students have equitable access to opportunities.
Program and Resource Development
• Develop and maintain career development resources, including handouts, online guides, and digital career readiness tools.
• Implement career readiness workshops focusing on workplace professionalism, effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
• Use labor market and employment data to inform program development and advise students on in-demand careers.
• Collaborate across departments, including academic divisions, student services, and institutional advancement, to integrate career readiness initiatives into existing programs.
Data Collection and Reporting
• Maintain accurate student records and track engagement with career services using designated systems.
• Monitor student placement, retention, and post-graduation outcomes for institutional reporting and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and present reports, assessments, and recommendations regarding career services activities and outcomes to college leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Workforce Development and the President.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in counseling, Human Resources, Education, Business, Career in Technical Education (CTE) or a related field from a regionally accredited institution required.
• Experience in career services, student affairs, workforce development, or a related field preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required.
• Proficiency with career development tools and technologies (such as Handshake, Career Coach, or similar platforms).
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with diverse student populations, faculty, and external stakeholders.
Experience working in a post-secondary environment preferred.
