Job Summary

This role supports the development of new liquid cooling products within Vertiv’s Thermal business. The Associate Mechanical Engineer works with product designers and cross-functional teams to design, develop and release mechanical systems for High Density Liquid Cooling products. The engineer provides strong technical expertise and drives project execution through the full NPDI process, from concept to production, while acting as a bridge between marketing, product management, electrical engineering, manufacturing and quality to ensure timely, high-quality product delivery.

A successful candidate will have a solid foundation in mechanical product development, proven ability to execute projects, and a strong working knowledge of NPDI practices, CAD tools (preferably PTC Creo) and PLM systems. Familiarity with low-voltage electrical systems and thermal design concepts is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Work with a multi-disciplinary engineering team on new product development and engineering-to-order projects for liquid cooling solutions, including Rear Door Heat Exchangers, Liquid-to-Air and Liquid-to-Liquid systems, Secondary Fluid Networks and in-rack liquid cooling products.

Perform CAD design in PTC Creo, and documentation using Model-Based Definition as required.

Release designs and manage Engineering Change Orders in PLM systems such as Oracle PD Cloud, or Windchill.

Support design transfers and day-to-day collaboration between engineering teams in different regions.

Design mechanical solutions for finned-tube heat exchangers, sheet-metal and piping assemblies while collaborating with suppliers, procurement and industrial engineering.

Meet cost, quality, environmental and schedule objectives while balancing market and internal customer needs.

Support lab validation, test planning, data review and issue resolution across prototype and production phases.

Analyze and resolve technical problems, updating and improving drawings based on feedback from production, procurement and logistics to simplify assembly, reduce cost and improve quality.

Provide input to cost reduction, quality improvement and manufacturability initiatives.

Coordinate with electrical and thermal teams to ensure effective integration of subsystems, including low-voltage components when needed.

Maintain accurate documentation and data across PLM and related systems.

Requirements:

Proficiency in PTC Creo for CAD design.

Experience releasing designs in PLM systems such as Oracle PD Cloud, Windchill, or similar.

Familiarity with Model-Based Definition.

Design experience with sheet-metal and piping.

Working knowledge of mechanical concepts, product safety and test methods.

Familiarity with bill-of-material creation and data-entry systems.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to prevent and resolve a wide range of issues.

Excellent planning, organizing, documentation and communication skills.

Ability to multitask and operate effectively in cross-functional global development teams.

Fluency in English.

Preferred:

Background in data-center thermal management or other fluid-cooling applications.

Experience with thermal analysis or simulation tools such as ANSYS or CFD.

Experience working directly with suppliers or contract manufacturers.

Understanding of low-voltage electrical component integration.
