This position demands Core Engineering focused, result oriented Engineering role within Cabin system & components department to support ROPS / FOPS Cabin structure and light fab design. The role requires to work and deliver end to end machine ROPS structure design.
The scope of responsibility not limited to designing the structure but also material selection, selection of manufacturing process, plan FEA & test requirements, connect with suppliers, witnesses’ trial, work with cross functional team to prove the design and ensure product meets the best of CATERPILLAR standards within defined time and cost targets.
Core skill requirements:
Strong Knowledge of Structure design
Must be aware of steel grade used in Cabin and light fab structure design.
Hands on Experience in Design principle, ISO standards for validation, Knowledge on tooling, manufacturing process, Paint process for structure design.
Creo FEA analysis will be added advantage.
Should be able to read, understand and interpret the FEA reports,
Must be aware of APQP, DMFEA, DMIAC approach, PPAP, WPS and PQR
Candidate must have strong technical expertise to develop new design concepts/ proposals and drive decisions - with appropriate data facts & Logics.
Must be able to work with Suppliers, Buyers, provide engineering support required to develop the parts.
Must be a good team player, provide technical supports in day -day activities,
Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD &T) and Tolerance Stack up analysis.
Should be able to take individual design decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualification requirement:
Post-Graduation / master’s degree / bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/ Production/Automobile)
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as the need arises.
SIX SIGMA Green belt will be added advantage.
Software proficiency:
Expert level - Creo (Solid modelling, Sheet metal etc.) Expert Level – Team centre or equivalent PLM tool
Work experience:
Relevant work experience of min. 8 years
Must have a record of delivering min.2+ Cabin structure Design from concept to production.
Must have worked on minimum 3 projects with DMAIC.
Must understand various mechanical systems and relations between system/components and their failure modes.
Should have involved in resolving the field failures / part fit up issue etc.
Should have worked on reverse engineering projects.
Handled few costs saving or Quality improvement projects.
Technical ability to collaborate across organizational/ sub-system team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Relocation is available for this position.
