Position Summary: The Career Center Coordinator will report to the Director of Career Development, and will provide assistance, support and leadership in vital areas of the Career Development Center with specific emphasis on providing direct support to students through their career development process.
General areas of responsibility include providing career advising to ODU students and alumni, coordinating career events and programs, supervising student workers, outreach with faculty and employers, and office administration.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities: Support the role and function of the Director of Career Development and assist in creating a college-to-career campus culture.
Facilitate career advising appointments with students and alumni involving: career assessments, current career development theory and planning techniques, resume reviews, cover letter reviews, mock interviews, opportunity preparation/referrals, job search strategies, etc.
Develop and coordinate programs that involve and educate students about the career development process and career readiness skills.
Supervise student workers including continuous training, job responsibilities and scheduling.
Assist in management and more effective use of career center management system and online student job board - Handshake.
Contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives that educate and prepare students for graduate school and professional education.
Work with the director to maximize student employment outcomes and expand new internship and employment opportunities by working with faculty, students and employers.
Assist the director in the collection and reporting of employment and post-graduation outcomes data.
Promote student utilization of Career Development resources and programs.
Execute administrative tasks in the day-to-day operations and services of the Career Center.
Occasional evening and weekend hours required.
Serve on university committees on an as-needed basis.
Attend staff meetings and other University events as required.
Participate in training and professional development as required.
Support and contribute to the mission and vision of Ohio Dominican University.
Other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications: A Master's degree is required, preferably in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Human Resources, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in career counseling, student advising, or human resources preferred.
The successful candidate must have knowledge in the practice of resume development and job search success, along with experience coordinating educational and outreach programs, and presenting to diverse audiences.
Experience recruiting or screening job candidates is a plus.
The successful candidate must be proficient in the Microsoft office suite, Google platforms, and social media tools, and be able to generate reports and track statistics.
