Purpose of the Adult Day Services Assistant Position:
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide care (nursing, meals, activities, etc.) for adult day clients with impaired ability to perform at an independent level due to disease process under the supervision of the Adult Day Services Director.
Bus Driver Functions
Drive 12 passenger bus for Adult Day Services as needed. Primarily, pick up Adult Day clients from their homes in the morning and transport them to Adult Day Services. Then, transport these clients back home in the late afternoon.
Secure clients’ wheelchairs and walkers to restraining devices on bus prior to departing and during any trips to and from Adult Day Services.
Be physically able to handle and assist all adult day clients in and out of bus.
Be physically able to handle and assist adult day clients in wheelchairs and those using walkers into and out of bus.
Attend and participate in scheduled Bus / Driver-related orientation, in-service training and educational classes.
Act as a positive representative of Forest Hills Adult Day Services / Embassy Healthcare. Work in the community using tact and understanding with clients, caregivers, and family members.
Consistently display hospitality and excellent customer service with adult day clients, family members, community members and anyone the driver interacts with during her/his drives.
Communicate with Adult Day Services director about any disruption in service.
Report all vehicle repairs and /or any unsafe or hazardous situations immediately to the Adult Day Services Director and Maintenance Director.
Ability to do other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with the adult day services established policies and procedures, and as instructed by the Adult Day Services director.
Follow your work schedule in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
Cooperate with adult day staff as well as nursing facility personnel to ensure that Adult Day Services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the clients.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the adult day center.
Provide clients with reality orientation and emotional support as needed
Report all complaints and grievances made by the client to Adult Day Services director.
Notify the Adult Day Services director when you will be late or absent from work.
Education
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Experience
One year experience in providing care and /or activities for seniors is preferred but not . On the job training provided.
Specific Requirements
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability and willingness to deal tactfully with clients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult clients.
Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing adult day practices and services.
Must be able to relate information concerning a client’s condition.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Must be able to drive the facility bus and have a non-restricted driver’s license.
