Join our expanding Mace Advisory Centre of Excellence within Mace Consult. Our aim is to bring the best advice to our clients, developed at some of the world’s most iconic and successful projects and our team has a track record of successfully delivering a wide variety of commissions with both property and infrastructure clients across the globe. We are seeking candidates with a broad and flexible technical skillset to complement our current team by offering advice to our clients alongside Mace sector teams. You will be focussed on service excellence, continuous improvement and product development.

Our ideal candidates will have strategic advisory capability which they can deploy flexibly across service lines and sectors and a specialism in one or more of our service line areas; strategy and investment, construction and productivity, strategic development, asset and portfolio performance, commercial and delivery or change and transformation. Post graduate experience in offering strategic advice to clients in a consultancy business. This may be as part of project and programme management roles but candidates will be able to demonstrate they can work strategically with high levels of complexity and uncertainty. Responsible for technical commission delivery in less complex environments during the pre-conception, feasibility and early stages of projects and programmes. Provides technical capability from either a specific professional discipline (e.g. engineering, financial modelling) and/or specialist capabilities (e.g. stakeholder management, transformation) and deploys in an advisory capacity with a client or sector. Accountable for the technical aspects of projects and programmes and/or will bring specialist expertise to larger projects and programmes.
You’ll be responsible for:
Collaborates the commission team to achieve outputs, taking a technical advisory role on commissions working across a single, less complex commission or contributing to a more complex commission
Actively undertakes key technical elements of proposal development and commission delivery and integrating technical expertise with other capabilities to achieve milestones
Develops and maintains relationships and networks with the commission team and internal and external stakeholders.
Provides sound technical options or solutions to client issues
Supports client relationship management activities related to a specific technical area
Partners in business development and work winning activities by sharing experience in technical skills to identify new opportunities
Provides sound subject matter and technical expertise expert for one specialist technical field (e.g. planning, engineering, property management, investment, skills and workforce, energy)
Analyses and utilises data and information from multiple sources to build technical options or solutions to client issues
Delivers high quality reports and presentations, interpreting and translating technical data into accessible materials, aligned to industry best practice in fields of expertise.
Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Technical capability from strategic commercial assessments, including contract strategy, route to market, or risk-sharing aspects
Undertaking supply chain risk assessments and analysing the data on findings to support the development of mitigation strategies
Experience in aspects of change management and transformation (e.g. Operating model/organisation development/skills transfer etc.)
Effective communication and engagement skills with the ability to translate complex topics to accessible and compelling language

Providing appropriate skills and support to business development - developing new business opportunities and working to support a range of bid activities.
In depth knowledge of one or more property and infrastructure sectors (e.g., Aviation, Rail, Roads, Healthcare, Nuclear, Utilities, Energy Transition, Central and Local Government.)
You’ll need to have:
Basic analytical skills - use of Excel and external data sources.
Working towards technical qualification or chartership.
Contribute towards options and conclusions from the analysis of technical data.
Ability to convert specialist technical knowledge into accessible format for clients .Use of standard document software.
One technical skill related to property or infrastructure Basic experience of applying technical skills in a consultancy environment.
Experience of stakeholder management skills on less complex projects.Some experience of conducting structured or semi structured interviews relating to general and a specialist subject matter.Good presentation skills and ability to produce quality reports and visuals.
Ability to work on one or more projects or subject matter concurrently.
Ability to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines outside of the control of the project team.
Ability to structure own work programme and support a senior consultant producing output in a specialist subject area.
Good level of technical specialist capability and ability to explain to other team members in an accessible way.
Ability to work as part of a team, taking on tasks to achieve commission milestones.
Basic understanding of or experience in the capabilities required to undertake specialist/technical consultancy at a strategic level.
Some experience working in a dynamic or complex environment with a high degree of uncertainty.
To be able to demonstrate skills in research, analysis, generating creative ideas and optioneering as well as developing and delivering high quality presentations and reports.
Be digitally savvy and keen to explore the opportunities Mace has to offer.
To be comfortable with a degree of uncertainty, self motivated to learn new skills and explore a varied range of opportunities. We expect all our team to be adept at stakeholder engagement and client relationship management. For much of the time our Advisory Consultants are working on more than one commission and these tend to be short term so flexibility and agility are a must.
