Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with instruction and classroom activities: Support the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote learning through play.

Supervise students: Actively monitor and ensure the safety of all children in the classroom, on the playground, during meals, and on field trips.

Support diverse learning needs: Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students who need extra assistance, including those with special needs.

Reinforce positive behavior: Use approved behavior management strategies to encourage positive interactions and resolve minor conflicts among students.

Help with daily care: Assist children with basic needs such as dressing, using the restroom, washing hands, and during naptime.

Prepare and organize materials: Help set up and arrange classroom materials, learning centers, and sensory stations. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment.

Maintain records: Assist the lead teacher with record-keeping tasks, including daily attendance and tracking student progress and development.

Communicate effectively: Foster open and respectful communication with students, staff, and parents. Report student progress or concerns to the lead teacher.

Collaborate with staff: Work effectively as a team member with the lead teacher and other school personnel.

Participate in professional development: Attend meetings, training sessions, and parent-teacher conferences as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience working with young children in a structured environment is preferred.

Must pass a state-mandated background check

Educational Qualifications: "And/Or Qualifications Listed"

Preferred- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development OR Associate's Degree (any field) + certification: Hold an Associate's Degree in any field plus a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Montessori certification, or an equivalent certification.

High School Diploma + WorkKeys + Early Childhood Credits/Training: Hold a high school diploma and verify your WorkKeys scores. Also complete 12 early childhood college credit hours OR an MDE-approved early childhood training program. Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including young children (up to 50 pounds).

Must be able to frequently kneel, stoop, bend, and sit on the floor to engage with children at their level.

Must be able to move quickly and respond to emergency situations.
