Description:

End Homelessness Winnipeg (EHW) is an Indigenous-led organization working across sectors to realize a shared vision: ending homelessness in our city.

Guided by the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan and the Sweetgrass Braid framework, EHW convenes governments, service providers, community leaders, and people with lived experience to coordinate action, steward resources, and advocate for systemic change.

With a Board that is majority Indigenous and deep ties to Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and grassroots leadership, EHW upholds Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being, and Doing while serving all people experiencing homelessness.

To continue advancing its mission, EHW is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization through its next phase of impact.

Reporting to and working closely with the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensure the effective implementation of the Strategic Plan, and strengthen EHW’s role as a trusted sector leader.

This is a role for a collaborative, courageous, and culturally grounded leader who can balance advocacy, relationship building, and operational excellence.

They will bring humility, political acumen, and trauma-informed leadership to support a skilled and passionate team while advancing housing solutions and systems change.

Lead the operationalization and execution of EHW’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, ensuring measurable progress toward ending homelessness.

Build and maintain strong relationships with governments, Indigenous leadership, funders, and community partners.

Serve as a trusted public voice, representing EHW in media, advocacy, and policy discussions.

Cultural Integrity & Community Trust Uphold Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being, and Doing across governance, operations, and partnerships.

Ensure financial, administrative, and operational systems are efficient, compliant, and aligned with community priorities.

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building Increase clarity in EHW’s role within the community and with external stakeholders.

Indigenous identity is a requirement for this role: the successful candidate must be First Nations, Inuit or Métis.

Deep engagement with Indigenous communities, governance, and culture – with Indigenous leadership strongly preferred for this role.

Strong communication skills, with comfort addressing media, community gatherings, and government meetings.

Political acumen and skill navigating complex funding and policy environments.

Understanding of housing, homelessness, or related systems.

Assets (not required): Lived experience of homelessness or intergenerational system harm.

Métis, First Nations, or Inuit language, teaching, or ceremonial practice.

Experience in grant writing, program evaluation, or community-based research.

Founded in 2015, End Homelessness Winnipeg serves as a backbone organization for the sector, coordinating community-wide efforts to end homelessness.

Indigenous-led and majority-Indigenous governed, EHW’s work is grounded in the understanding that solutions must be community-driven and culturally informed.

The organization’s budget is stewarded with transparency and accountability to fund housing and homelessness initiatives across Winnipeg.

The next CEO will play a central role in shaping the future of Winnipeg’s homelessness response, strengthening community trust, and advancing meaningful, lasting solutions.
