Pizza Chef Wanted Highlands Bar and Grill – Moorefield, WV

Highlands Bar and Grill in beautiful Moorefield, West Virginia, is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Pizza Chef to join our culinary team. This is your opportunity to craft exceptional pizzas from scratch using high-quality ingredients, creative flair, and a commitment to excellence.
Compensation and Benefits: $50,000 - $55,000 / year. Full-Time Team Members receive benefits including health, dental, vision, and life, 401(k), STD, LTD, paid holiday, vacation, personal & sick time, lean management training, and numerous other employee discount benefits through our HR provider LL Roberts.
What You'll Be Doing:
As our Pizza Chef, you’ll be at the heart of our kitchen — handcrafting dough, building bold flavors, and firing pizzas to perfection. Your responsibilities will include:
Dough Preparation - Crafting pizza dough from scratch using various techniques (e.g., hand-stretching, using a dough sheeter) to achieve desired texture and consistency.
Sauce and Topping Creation - Developing and preparing fresh, flavorful sauces and toppings, potentially using seasonal ingredients and experimenting with new recipes.
Pizza Assembly - Expertly assembling pizzas, ensuring proper layering of sauces, cheeses, toppings, and other ingredients.
Cooking Perfection - Cooking pizzas in various ovens (wood-fired, gas, electric) to achieve the desired crust and topping doneness, maintaining consistent quality and flavor.
Food Safety and Hygiene - Maintaining a clean and organized work area, following strict food safety and hygiene standards, and ensuring all food handling practices are safe.
Inventory Management - Monitoring inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as needed, and managing food costs.
Team Collaboration - Working effectively with other kitchen staff, including servers and other cooks, to ensure smooth and timely service.
Customer Satisfaction - Ensuring high-quality pizzas are delivered to customers, addressing any feedback or complaints with professionalism and diplomacy.
Quality Control - Checking the quality of pizzas before they are served to customers, ensuring they meet the restaurant's standards and customer expectations.
Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on kitchen equipment, including ovens, and reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel
Training and Mentorship - Potentially training and mentoring junior kitchen staff in pizza-making techniques.
Menu Development - Collaborating with the kitchen team on menu development, potentially experimenting with new pizza recipes and variations.
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience as a pizza chef or in a similar culinary role.
Skilled in dough preparation, pizza assembly, and use of various ovens.
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about quality food.
Team player with strong communication and collaboration skills.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak hours.
