Position Objective
Support the foreman by maintaining a constant presence on the shop floor to assist machinists in the production of single-unit or small-batch parts. Provide the necessary tools, information, and adjustments to ensure smooth and predictable production, while anticipating machining-related technical issues.
Main Responsibilities
under supervision of the forman
Direct Production Support (priority)
Maintain continuous presence on the shop floor to support machinists (lathes and machining centers).
Analyze new parts: anticipate assembly, tooling, and machining strategy issues.
Confirm the availability of required programs, tools, and setups ahead of time.
Respond quickly to unexpected events and implement preventive measures.
Adjust programs on-site when necessary (quick fixes, simple optimizations).
Knowledge Transfer & CNC Performance
Train machinists on blueprint reading, manufacturing sequences, and precautions to be taken.
Optimize cycle times for new parts without compromising quality.
Suggest process improvements in collaboration with the methods engineer.
Communication & Coordination
Escalate needs or bottlenecks to the foreman for prompt resolution.
Document recurring issues to feed continuous improvement efforts.
Desired Profile
Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining.
Ability to manage priorities and anticipate issues in a custom production environment.
Discreet leadership, team spirit, and ease in sharing know-how.
Strong knowledge of Fanuc and Okuma controls.
Asset: ability to communicate in English.
