Asset Management Capability Manager

About the role

This role is responsible for leading the uplift of asset management capability and assurance across V/Line. You will maintain our ISO 55001-certified Asset Management System, support Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF) compliance, and drive continuous improvement through maturity assessments, audits and capability programs. You’ll work closely with teams across the business to embed asset management principles, identify capability needs and support others to strengthen how assets are planned, managed and reported.

Key accountabilities include:

· Lead the asset management assurance, audit and maturity assessment cycle, ensuring alignment with ISO 55001 and AMAF requirements.

· Manage internal assurance programs and compliance reporting, including preparation of detailed reports and recommendations for senior leaders.

· Maintain V/Line’s ISO 55001 certification and support the annual AMAF attestation process under the Financial Management Act.

· Identify and respond to capability needs across the organisation, coordinating tailored training, coaching and uplift initiatives.

· Design and deliver inclusive workshops and learning programs that support practical application of asset management principles.

· Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align asset strategy, governance and risk frameworks.

· Lead and partner with various stakeholders to design and implement continuous improvement initiatives to continual uplift its asset management capabilities

· Provide strategic advice and insights to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making across the asset lifecycle.

· Represent the team in key forums, working groups and committees focused on assurance, capability and performance.

About you

You are a capable and collaborative asset management professional with a strong grasp of ISO 55001, maturity models and assurance frameworks. You enjoy working with others to solve problems, share knowledge and build confidence in asset management practices. You bring clarity to complex systems and are committed to supporting long-term performance and compliance through practical, people-focused solutions.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

· Strong expertise in asset assurance, audit processes and maturity assessments.

· Deep working knowledge of ISO 55001, IAM frameworks and AMAF compliance.

· Proven ability to lead change and embed asset management principles across diverse teams.

· Confidence in engaging stakeholders at all levels, with a collaborative and inclusive communication style.

· Experience in delivering training, workshops and coaching to support capability uplift.

· Analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into clear, strategic recommendations.

· Familiarity with governance, risk and assurance frameworks in asset-intensive environments.

· Demonstrated alignment with V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

Highly desirable

· Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business or Asset Management; CAMA certification; PROSCI or equivalent change management credentials.
