Role Overview:
The System Architect will serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for the Theater Blood (TBLD) application under the Joint Operational Medicine Information Systems (JOMIS) program. This role is responsible for the end-to-end system design, modernization, and sustainment of a mission-critical medical application supporting Department of Defense operations. The System Architect will ensure that system architecture aligns with Agile/DevSecOps practices, cybersecurity mandates, and interoperability requirements across a distributed, cloud-enabled environment.
The position is primarily remote with travel as requested. It requires availability during EST business hours. This position requires US Citizenship with Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
Lead the design, enhancement, and optimization of the Theater Blood application architecture to support capability improvements and sustainment requirements.
Develop scalable, resilient, and secure designs that operate effectively in Denied, Degraded, Intermittent, and Limited (DDIL) environments.
Define and oversee CI/CD pipelines, containerization strategies, and DevSecOps practices for system modernization.
Design and support system integrations with related DoD medical, logistics, and operational systems.
Ensure alignment of data models, APIs, and technical interfaces to maintain interoperability and information exchange across the enterprise.
Architect secure solutions with Zero Trust principles, automated security testing, and cyber-resilience best practices.
Support and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditation activities in compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
Provide Tier 3 architectural support for fielding and sustainment issues.
Requirements:
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, electronics, or other engineering or technical discipline required. Masters preferred.
8+ years of experience in system architecture, with at least 3 years in defense, healthcare, or mission-critical IT systems
Expertise in system and software architecture using modern frameworks and methodologies (Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD).
Strong knowledge of cloud-hosted solutions (AWS, Azure, or DoD CloudOne) and technologies including Python, JavaScript, PostgreSQL
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.
Deep understanding of cybersecurity design, ATO processes, and DoD risk management frameworks.
Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams, including IT, clinical, administrator and vendor stakeholders.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship due to clearance requirement.
Ability to obtain SECRET security clearance, TS/SCI preferred.
Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:
Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred.
Experience with DDIL environment solutions, resilience engineering, and distributed systems.
Prior support for DHA, JOMIS, or other DoD healthcare IT programs.
Experience with Distributed Ledger Technology.
Knowledge of medical logistics and theater-level operational systems.
Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment.
Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Experience working on federal government contracts, preferably centered around healthcare.
In addition, U.S Citizenship is required.
