Professional Project Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Greater San Diego, CA (On-site)

A nationally recognized engineering firm with a strong reputation for technical excellence and client service is expanding its team in the Greater San Diego area. With a robust portfolio of infrastructure, transportation, and construction-related projects, this firm is seeking a hands-on geotechnical engineering expert who can lead site-specific project execution while also mentoring junior talent. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically complex, high-visibility projects with a team that values collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform geotechnical investigations for infrastructure, utility, and construction projects, with responsibilities spanning field exploration, lab testing, and engineering analysis.

Lead field operations for subsurface investigations, including boring oversight, sampling, and safety compliance.

Prepare technical proposals, project scopes, and budget estimates in collaboration with clients and internal teams.

Develop and review geotechnical reports, including recommendations for foundations, slope stability, earth retention, and pavement design.

Provide engineering support to construction teams, including site visits, field observations, and resolution of geotechnical issues during construction.

Supervise and mentor junior engineers and field staff to ensure quality of work and continued technical development.

Coordinate closely with civil, structural, and environmental engineering teams on multi-disciplinary projects.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline required; Master's degree preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in California required.

6+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, including field investigations, laboratory testing, and design recommendations.

Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation systems, and geotechnical design software (e.g., gINT, LPILE, SLOPE/W, etc.).

Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering on time and within budget.

Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites within Southern California.
