Senior Business and Technical Specialist within the multi-disciplinary Card and Payment Business Team.
This includes management, technical and operational support for Mastercard, 10x and Paymentology service partners and driving digital payments solutions for card.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Provide second in line managerial and technical support in the Card business and project implementation team and squad
Have deep understanding of digital payments horizon
Be very well informed on new digital payment solutions and their implementation journeys
Proven success in driving digital payments projects from development to implementation
Show strategic relevance of solutions in meeting the bank’s customer strategy
Partner with the Head of Card to drive the Mastercard and Paymentology relationship to meet bank’s short and long term goals
Partner with Head of Card in product and team planning for long term and short
Be involved in managing team performance
Provide input to billing and budget conversations
Show understanding of the fraud landscape and how it pertains to card
Manage relationship with internal stakeholders that touches card and the payments eco-system
Represent the bank in relevant Card PCHs and protect the bank’s interests
Represent the bank in various SARB engagements
Contribute to collating and representing the bank’s opinion and long term interests on SARB industry papers
Be a reliable stakeholder in driving and managing the relationship with Mastercard, Paymentology and 10x to ensure delivery of projects and conclusion of incidents
Provide insight to Business Analysts to formulate Business requirements for projects
Drive prioritisation of projects in the roadmap
Manage relationship with external suppliers
Provide the second line team with support to resolve customer queries for card transactions where needed
Be first in line for the escalation of unresolved card incidents
Card related processing exceptions and disputes
Provide insight for new enhancements with the aim of continuously improving and automating processes (incl. SOPs, UAT testing and post deployment checks)
Review and understand daily and monthly management reports for card transactions
Show ability to understand trends in customer transaction data and ability to present data insights to senior colleagues
Participation in all internal and external audit reviews
Ensure all operational processes and execution are compliant with industry regulations
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Tertiary education in the technical or business arena.
Minimum 10 years’ work experience in card and business operational related roles
A strong understanding of the technology and commercials that support Card
Comprehensive knowledge of card payment systems
Working operational experience with Mastercard and/or Paymentology - Advantageous

Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and experience of the payments industry, schemes and regulations and more specifically, the National Payment System (NPS)
Strong understanding of the movement of data in a card transaction
Strong understanding of the 4 party model
Strong understanding of the Mastercard position in the region
Understanding of PASA and PCH framework
Computer literacy, Microsoft office: Outlook, PowerPoint, MSWord, MS Excel and MS Teams
Financial and accounting knowledge – understanding basic financial accounting and financial principles

Advanced written and verbal communication skills, able to translate payment concepts into general business concepts.
