The EMEAI Regional Environment, Health & Safety Manager partners to design and deploy ESH program & initiatives for all current and future facilities in the region in order to ensure compliance, prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, execute company programs & projects; provides technical assistance to plant management for environmental and occupational health and safety-related issues and processes. The position will oversee 25 plants, including 15 manufacturing sites.
Legal and Organizational Compliance:
Implement strategies, plans & programs and contribute to their design in accordance to the global & Regional direction for the EMEAI assets in order to achieve and maintain compliance with all applicable ESH laws within each country and regulations at the country/national, state/province and local levels.
Lead the implementation and participate to the development & review of Safety, Health and Environmental policies, programs and procedures, global and local, in order to ensure consistency and lean application across the region assigned,
Monitor and ensure compliant response to Safety, Health and Environmental questions, issues, and problems from locations and management;
Visit each regional facility periodically on a frequency sufficient to ensure ESH programs are functioning properly, identify/correct areas needing improvement and build an effective rapport with site teams
Participate in audits and prepares own facilities for same, including annual self-assessments.
Coordinate the exchange of Safety, Health and Environmental information and best management practices between regions and locations.
Lead company sustainability efforts for the region and contribute to data sets, analysis and reports.
Ensure uniform and accurate reporting of main KPIs afferent to ESH across region, within dead line for completion and considering all quality aspects of reporting
Organizational Environment & Health & Safety Culture:
Oversee and assist with a variety of site and business-based ESH activities under the responsibility of assigned ESH resources
Review sites’ safety observations, near misses and incidents, and ensures action plans are identified, and executed to resolve common themes, root and contributing causes, based on a prioritization appropriate for the region and businesses
EHS training to educate leaders, supervisors and workers about safety policies, laws, and practices. Develops employee training programs, emergency contingency plans, written safety communications plans and policies and procedures
Develop and implement all activities with respect to area safety audits, personal protection equipment programs, and all other prevention programs.
Ensure that all facilities use proper procedures for hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal
Responsible for development/implementation of local administration of Corporate policies regarding Environmental Safety & Health
Regularly review ongoing safety committee minutes and audit/inspection reports with site ESH coordinators
Empower first line supervision and management to implement multifaceted Environmental Safety and Health program. Attributes include machine safety, ergonomics, waste/emissions reduction, Job Safety Analysis and program assessment activities.
Assist facilities with incident investigations and root cause corrective action plans and corrective action implementation
Identify training needs and develop on-going employee training programs, Emergency Contingency Plan, written safety communications, facilitates Business Continuity Planning for the region, policies and procedures.
Examine plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine if all safety precautions have been included (Environment, Safety. & Health Project Review form). Reviews plans for manufacturing process capital expenditures and operating changes for compliance with environmental and safety requirements. YOU HAVE:
Academic Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in the technical field, environmental engineering and/ or engineering sciences considering requirements for the ESH function in multiple areas
Several years of management experience in intercultural teams
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English (C1 EU Level), as well as Polish
Experience/qualification as safety office for occupational safety for the country where the position is based
Previous experience:
10+ years of experience in the manufacturing ESH field, in different roles
Knowledge and understanding of government regulations and EU legal requirements + change mechanisms at EU level
