Job Title:Simulation and Skills Nurse Educator

Position Overview
The Simulation and Skills Nurse Educator supports the operational and administrative functions of clinical simulation and skills lab activities within the College of Nursing. This Nurse Educator works closely with faculty and leadership to plan, develop, and implement high-quality simulation and hands-on learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students.
Key responsibilities include preparing and operating simulation and skills lab sessions, managing inventory and scheduling, maintaining equipment, and supporting faculty and learners during educational activities. The Nurse Educator also oversees purchasing, coordinates standardized patient activities, and ensures the simulation environment meets institutional standards. This 12-month associated faculty position reports to the Director of the Technology Learning Complex (TLC).
Performance Objectives
Coordinate and implement hands-on educational activities, including setup and breakdown of skills labs, simulations, practice sessions, and assessments.
Provide technical and operational support during simulation and lab sessions, assisting faculty and students with equipment, technology, and supplies.
Manage inventory, maintain equipment (including documentation), and ensure simulation spaces are clean, organized, and fully functional.
Assist with scenario development, standardized patient coordination, and audiovisual (A/V) operations.
Supervise and delegate tasks to student assistants.
Collaborate with faculty to develop, revise, and maintain simulation scenarios and provide faculty development in simulation-based learning.
Recruit and schedule patient exam models and standardized patient actors.
Implement evidence-based practices in simulation, debriefing, and assessment, ensuring best practices in standardized patient use.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of simulation equipment, software, and operation manuals.
Utilize various technologies and platforms to support daily operations and programmatic needs.
Participate in TLC tours, outreach programs, and other promotional activities.
Work schedule is primarily Monday-Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend hours may be required. This is an on-site position and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
Responsibility:
60% Preparing and operating simulation and skills lab sessions, managing inventory and scheduling, maintaining equipment, and supporting faculty and students during educational activities. Assists with planning and scheduling clinical education activities.
40% Oversees purchasing, coordinates standardized patient activities, and ensures the simulation environment meets institutional standards. Participate in TLC tours, outreach programs, and other promotional activities.
Additional Information: Education and Experience Requirements
Required : Master's degree in nursing, healthcare simulation, or a related field. Nursing degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing, healthcare simulation, or a related field.
Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work as part of a team.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with simulation-based education, Microsoft Office, and A/V equipment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 50 lbs.
