The Mason will be responsible to prepare and install masonry and associated construction materials per project scope. The Mason will receive information pertaining to daily schedule of jobsite activities from designated Foreman per the instructions relayed by the Superintendent, along with receiving support related to specific personnel matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Bricklaying and Stonework:

o Perform skilled masonry work in the construction and repair of buildings and other structures.

o Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and natural stones according to construction drawings and specifications.

• Surface Preparation:

o Prepare surfaces for masonry work by cleaning, leveling, and smoothing them using appropriate tools and techniques.

• Mixing Mortar:

o Mix mortar or grout according to standard formulas or specifications, ensuring proper consistency and quality.

• Cutting and Shaping:

o Cut or shape bricks, stones, or other masonry materials to fit specific dimensions, using hand or power tools.

• Alignment and Leveling:

o Ensure accurate alignment and leveling of masonry structures, using plumb bobs, levels, and straightedges.

• Repair Work:

o Conduct repairs on existing masonry structures, addressing any damages or deterioration.

• Safety Compliance:

o Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.

• Material Management:

o Monitor and manage the inventory of masonry materials and tools, requesting replenishments as needed.

• Collaboration:

o Collaborate with other construction professionals, including architects and contractors, to ensure cohesive and high-quality project delivery.

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Vocational training in masonry or a related field is preferred.

• Certification in masonry techniques is a plus.

• Proven experience as a Mason in the construction industry.

• In-depth knowledge of masonry materials, tools, and techniques.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.

• Strong attention to detail and precision in work.

• Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in construction.

• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.

• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
