Scope of Position
Under the direction of the Assistant Director and Director of Informatics, this position leads and manages the Willow Ambulatory team. The Willow Ambulatory team supports the Outpatient Pharmacy Service Line. The Outpatient Pharmacy Service Line consists of the following: retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care clinics, non-oncology ambulatory infusion centers, and medication access. The Outpatient Pharmacy Service Line is a strategic area of growth, and the Pharmacy Manager will oversee significant informatics projects, including implementation of prescription filling automation, supporting expansion of the specialty pharmacy facilities, and supporting the opening of multiple new retail locations. In this role, the Pharmacy Manager maintains functional expertise, participates in appropriate ambulatory, hospital, and/or departmental committees; and provides functional supervision to professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in their respective area(s) of the department.
Position Summary
This position oversees a varied team charged with optimizing the informatics services provided to the retail, specialty and ambulatory pharmacy areas. Leading the Willow Ambulatory team, the manager optimizes technology use in Outpatient Pharmacy operations. As a trusted advisor, the manager participates as a pharmacy leader in facilitating strategic direction for the department and contributes to the optimization of key clinical and business processes. This position is responsible for direct supervision of clinical applications analysts supporting pharmacy-focused workflows. The position entails working closely with the pharmacy user community, pharmacy leadership, and IT in a matrixed environment. This position supports the Ohio State University's research and education missions.
Additional Information:
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, 5 years of experience in health system pharmacy, and 2 years of team leadership/management; or an equivalent combination of education and leadership experience. Advanced degree preferred. Licensed pharmacist or eligible for licensing in Ohio. Valued member of team by internal and external customers, able to lead and execute multiple strategic and operational initiatives simultaneously, expert written and verbal communication skills, previous display of commitment to growth and development of students and residents, evidence of leadership qualities in current role. Experienced project manager with demonstrated ability to achieve specified project goals and objectives while respecting defined constraints. Knowledge of pharmacy practice and business models. Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of peers and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity. Ability to navigate matrix organizations effectively. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Epic certification required in first six months.
Ongoing: Performs professional, supervisory, and teaching functions outlined above. Continues to meet competency and licensure expectations of a staff pharmacist. Maintains positive relationships within the medical center. Conducts experiential and/or didactic teaching of pharmacy students (including interns), pharmacy residents, and permanent staff.
