Job Title:Medical Oncology Research Faculty

Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member's tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant Professor to join a dynamic research team focused on advancing cancer science, with a particular emphasis on the kidney cancer microenvironment. This non-tenure track position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, collaborate with leading scientists, and play a key role in laboratory operations and scientific discovery.

Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in departmental and institutional service, including committee work and strategic initiatives.

Contribute to graduate and medical education through teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development.

Develop and lead an independent, externally funded research program in tobacco research. Publish impactful research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across the OSUCCC - James, including basic scientists, clinicians, and translational researchers. Requirements

PhD or MD/PhD required; Considerable post-doctoral experience in basic research required; considerable experience in oncology required; proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred; understanding of key components of grant writing and obtaining funding in support of research required; experience with administration of funded research required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen. Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
