Role Overview

The Pediatrician provides comprehensive medical care for children, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, ensuring evidence-based, patient-centred care in hospital wards and outpatient services.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage common pediatric illnesses, infections, and chronic conditions.

• Conduct routine check-ups, growth monitoring, and developmental assessments.

• Prescribe medications, therapies, and vaccination schedules as per protocols.

• Order and interpret pediatric lab tests and imaging studies.

• Monitor and manage pediatric patients in hospital wards and outpatient care.

• Collaborate with nurses, allied health professionals, and parents for effective child care.

• Provide health education to parents and caregivers regarding nutrition, hygiene, and preventive care.

• Maintain accurate patient records, treatment notes, and follow-ups in HIS/EMR systems.

• Participate in case discussions, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

• Ensure adherence to hospital safety, infection control, and pediatric care protocols.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong clinical knowledge in general pediatrics.

• Ability to manage pediatric patients in ward and outpatient settings.

• Familiarity with pediatric diagnostics, lab interpretation, and growth assessment.

• Effective communication with children, parents, and hospital staff.

• Knowledge of hospital workflows, documentation standards, and patient safety protocols.

Qualification & Experience

• Education: MBBS with MD/DNB in Pediatrics.

• Experience: 1–5 years in general pediatrics in hospital or clinical settings.

• Certifications: BLS mandatory; PALS desirable.
