We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Grounds and Garden Technician to join our dynamic trade based team at Waikeria Prison, Te Awamutu. This is an opportunity to get involved in the exciting environment of Public Private Partnership contract delivery and develop new skills.

Job Description

As a Grounds and Gardens Technician, you will deliver reactive, project, and planned maintenance services at the Waikeria Prison site. With focus on the proactive preventative maintenance of the sand-based rugby field. There is also an opportunity to work with Instructors and provide support and benefit to the managed areas within the facility and the wider Waikeria site.

About You:

Minimum of two years of experience in grounds and gardens maintenance (turf experience preferred).

Sound knowledge and understanding of grounds and gardens standards and management requirements.

Minimum of three years’ work experience.

Driver’s license (required).

Trade qualified with NZ registration (preferred).

Proficient in computer skills – Word, Excel, webmail, and use of smartphones/tablets.

Good English spoken and written communication skills.

Ability to follow instructions and meet operational deadlines.

Customer-focused with the ability to comply with Waikeria Site requirements.

Good personal presentation and customer service skills are also essential, as is a clean full driver’s licence.
