The Recruitment Process:

TA Interview: This will be a discussion with a member of the Talent Acquisition Team to give you an understanding of our business, our culture & values and more context on the role. It will also allow us the opportunity to get to know you more and ensure OMI can meet your career aspirations.

Panel Interview: This will be with 2 members of the Senior Leadership of the Hiring Team and 1 member of the HC Leadership Team.

Technical & Psychometric Assessments: These will depend on the role and will sometimes happen concurrently with Vetting through an external service provider & Internal Verification.

The Specialist: Management Reporting Accountant supports the finance team by ensuring accurate and timely management reporting, journal processing and compliance with financial controls. This junior role is essential for maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting operational finance activities, including SASRIA reporting, premium bordereaux reviews and client engagement.

Prepare and submit SASRIA annexures in line with regulatory requirements.

Process and post finance journals accurately and on time.

Review premium bordereaux for completeness, accuracy and VAT compliance.

Assist with day-to-day banking activities, including payment processing and reconciliations.

Support the preparation of monthly client management accounts and internal reports.

Attend client meetings and present financial information as required.

Resolve queries with clients and provide timely financial support.

Engage with internal stakeholders, including Client Relationship Managers, to ensure alignment and service delivery.

Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all financial transactions.

Maintain compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.

Assist in identifying process improvements and automation opportunities.

Provide support during internal and external audits.

Perform professional accounting work, including compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data.

Prepare ledgers and journal entries, including trial balances and financial statements.

Conduct fixed asset or inventory accounting and cost accounting activities.

Perform bank account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.

Work within established systems to deliver prescribed outcomes for financial control.

Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods and formats independently.

Manage basic aspects of the data management system with guidance from senior colleagues.

Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.

Organize and prepare complex documents using standard office software.

Gather and summarize data for special reports and presentations.

Resolve queries from internal or external customers by providing information on complex processes and policies.

Contribute to the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines and protocols.

Identify and report instances of noncompliance with policies and regulatory codes within the team.

Participate in assessment and development planning activities and formal/informal training.

Maintain professional accreditation and stay updated on relevant technology, regulation and industry practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.

1–3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in insurance or financial services.

Experience with journal entries, reconciliations and financial reporting.

Exposure to SASRIA or insurance bordereaux is advantageous.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems, Oracle, or similar.

Understanding of VAT principles and financial controls.

Familiarity with banking processes and payment systems.

Basic knowledge of insurance finance operations.
