Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated OR RN Circulator for a travel nurse contract at our Critical Access Hospital. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in the operating room, primarily focusing on circulating duties across a variety of surgical specialties. This role requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Perform circulating duties in the operating room for a range of surgical procedures, including:

General Surgery

Orthopedics

C-Sections

Podiatry

Cataracts

Dental

Endoscopy

Conduct pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments and care (experience in these areas is a plus).

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical team members to ensure safe and efficient patient care.

Manage on-call responsibilities (8 days per month), with minimal call-ins, typically for hip fractures or ankle cases. Advance notice is often provided, or early arrival may be requested the day prior.

Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Provide patient education and support to ensure optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

Required:

Active Iowa or Compact RN license in good standing.

Minimum of 2 years of recent OR circulating experience.

Proficiency in circulating for general surgery, orthopedics, c-sections, podiatry, cataracts, dental, and endoscopy procedures.

BLS and ACLS certifications.

Ability to work 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM shifts, plus 8 days of on-call per month.

Preferred:

Experience in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting.

PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) experience.

Pre-op and post-op experience.

Scrub experience is a plus but not required.

Schedule

40 hours per week, consisting of five 8-hour shifts (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM).

8 days of on-call per month, with rare call-ins (advance notice typically provided for hip fractures, ankle cases, or early arrivals).
