Description:

About Us

At BAAC Construction we build infrastructure that strengthens communities. We're a fast-growing civil contractor delivering utility, earthworks and major infrastructure projects across Canada. Join a team that values technical excellence, strong client relationships and mentorship -- where accurate estimating directly affects which projects we win and how we deliver value to clients and communities.

Job Summary

You will own estimating for civil, utilities and earthworks bids from take-off through tender submission and post-award hand-off. Using Bid2Win/HeavyBid and Bluebeam, you'll produce accurate, compliant estimates, assess risk, and collaborate with operations and commercial teams to optimize cost and constructability. This role suits a methodical problem-solver who mentors others and helps grow our project pipeline in Calgary and Western Canada.

Responsibilities

Produce detailed, compliant cost estimates and bid packages using Bid2Win / HeavyBid to support competitive, margin-aware proposals.

Perform quantity take-offs and drawing markups in Bluebeam to ensure bid accuracy and traceability.

Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations; convert inputs into consistent cost models and vendor risk summaries.

Lead risk assessments and contingency recommendations to protect project margins and ensure regulatory compliance.

Coordinate with operations to validate production rates, build schedules, and constructability assumptions prior to submission.

Facilitate project hand-off and post-award onboarding to ensure smooth transition from estimating to execution.

Mentor junior estimators; document estimating norms and build a consistent estimating playbook.

Requirements

Proven estimating experience in civil / utilities/earthworks projects.

Hands-on proficiency with Bid2Win or HeavyBid and Bluebeam.

Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
