Description of the Position
Responsible for the supply of material, which has been requested by a department, or which serves as stock replenishments on the source of the material and gives recommendations for alternative solutions to purchasing. Ensure the on-time delivery of the material as well as the reduction of the purchasing price. An assignment of a specific material spectrum may apply.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform sourcing of aircraft material on global market.
Place and tack purchase orders for aircraft parts, general material and tools.
Responsibility for supply of material and service requests for both aircraft overhaul layovers and stock.
Find optimum sources for material and service demands, including “make or buy” decisions.
Monitor material availability prior to layover, including customer owed material.
Collect quotes and negotiate terms and conditions with vendors.
Place and track purchase orders for aircraft parts, material, tooling during, and prior to the layover.
Monitor the complete supply chain until material issue at production.
Coordinate with suppliers in case of delayed delivery
Coordinate with customer supply of customer specific material
Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and customs.
Liaise with production as the customer.
Participate in virtual team meetings.
Optimize routine purchasing with regards to total costs of purchasing together with strategic purchasing team
Support colleagues within the department with technical knowledge of the assigned materials range (e.g., Strategic purchasing upon contract negotiation or planning during MRP process)
Creation of material master data, including interchangeabilities
Adhere to quality and internal control procedures
Other Responsibilities
Maintains working area clean and organized.
Comply and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, local and federal regulations.
Perform other tasks and projects, as requested.
Ensure adherence to compliance culture requirements.
Education, Skills and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Material Management or equivalent experience in logistics or purchasing.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in material purchasing or technical background, preferably in aviation industry.
Good knowledge of logistics (physical logistics, transport planning and purchasing processes, preferred.
High degree or ability to work under pressure.
Experience in business negotiations, excellent communication skills
Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
Computer literate
Experience with material resource planning systems, preferably SAP
Team spirit, sense of responsibility and good interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently.
Flexibility according to workload during the project phases
Ability to generate new ideas and identify potential for improvement within his working area.
Competence to work in virtual teams.
Good analytical skills
