Job Overview:
The Opening Bartender is responsible for setting up the bar for seamless service, ensuring all ingredients, tools, and prep work are completed before guests arrive. This role requires exceptional cocktail knowledge, organizational skills, and efficiency to maintain the high standards of a luxury dining establishment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Shift Bar Setup
• Arrive punctually, groomed, and in proper uniform.
• Ensure bar stations are fully stocked with liquor, wine, mixers, and fresh ingredients.
• Prepare garnishes, fresh juices, syrups, and house-made ingredients.
• Check ice levels and glassware inventory.
• Test bar equipment, ensuring functionality (shakers, blenders, glass washers, etc.).
• Review reservations for VIPs, special requests, and guest preferences.
• Confirm cocktail menu updates and daily beverage specials.
2. Guest Arrival & Greeting
• Welcome guests warmly as they approach the bar.
• Engage in friendly conversation while maintaining professionalism.
• Offer water and present the cocktail menu.
3. Beverage Service & Order Taking
• Suggest specialty cocktails, wine pairings, or top-shelf spirits.
• Take orders efficiently and confirm guest preferences (e.g., spirit-forward, citrusy, sweet).
• Prepare and serve drinks with precision, ensuring correct presentation.
4. Bar Maintenance & Guest Experience
• Maintain a clean and organized bar throughout service.
• Monitor guest engagement and anticipate their needs.
• Provide recommendations and educate guests on spirits and cocktail pairings.
5. Handing Over to the Evening Shift
• Restock and refill liquor, mixers, and garnishes for the next shift.
• Clean and sanitize the bar area, glassware, and tools.
• Communicate any guest preferences or special requests to the dinner bartender.
