Purpose of the role

Support the QHSE Manager and wider business in ensuring that all Health, Safety and Environmental matters are dealt with quickly, efficiently and in line with legislation and best practice.

Review and create risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Manage and coordinate the monthly internal QHSE meeting, ensuring all related stats and KPIs are fully accurate and up to date.

Champion the Health and Safety agenda throughout the site and wider network, identifying opportunities to share best practise and discuss common issues or challenges.

Via proactive engagement with all stakeholders, ensure that our H&S systems support and align with our products and services so that they meet the expectations of our customers at all times, whilst maintaining high standards of safety with the aim of continual improvement and striving for zero accidents.

Key tasks & Responsibilities

Providing advice on H&S related legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, relevant British Standards etc

Supporting the deployment of company H&S initiatives

Leading the daily management process for H&S

Auditing against CRH Standards

Supporting the business with H&S related improvement projects (e.g. LOTTO

Developing new systems or processes in

Auditing against ISO 45001

Facilitation of risk assessment and SOP developments

Delivery of H&S related training

Assist in delivery of H&S related training including new starter inductions

Ensure all H&S maintenance records are properly maintained in line with statutory and management system requirements

Assist maintenance in contractor control activities including pre qualification, assessment of RAMS packs, completing contractor inductions, completion of permits to work and spot checks of contractor activities as required

Actively liaise with the purchasing and goods inwards teams to ensure adequate monitoring of suppliers, quality of incoming raw materials and address raw material non-conformances in timely fashion

Arranging and coordinating of ongoing health screening of the workforce including occupational health checks, vibration monitoring, prescription eyewear etc

Assist other members of the team and production front line leaders in day to day maintenance of health & safety and environmental management systems including aiding production of risk assessments and safe systems of work

Assist during third party audits, leading audits where required

Develop H&S requirements including risk assessments or safe systems of work involved with the project

Liaise with other Leviat UK sites to maintain system alignment, perform audits of the sites and to ensure shared best practices. (This will include occasional travel to other sites)

Other

Lead from the front in adhering to all health & safety systems and protocols. A “best in class” level of compliance is essential. Abide by all other company polices

Contribute to inter-Co CRH projects as required

Carry out other reasonable tasks for which you have been trained and are capable.

Assist in implementing any new future standards as deemed appropriate by our customers/market/legislation

Key Competencies & Relevant Experience

Attention to detail/systematic approach

Excellent communication skills

Ability to influence and engage stakeholders in adhering to new and existing protocols

Essential

NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent

Experience in working in manufacturing sector

Experience and working knowledge ISO45001

Qualification in internal auditing

Competent in MS Office suite.

Ability to work on multiple tasks and work cross-functionally to identify issues and implement solutions and improvements

Experience of RCFA techniques eg: “5 why”, “fishbone diagrams” etc.

Desirable

Experience of working in a metal fabrication environment

Qualification in lead auditing

Understanding of Lean processes

Practical experience of implementing SHE systems, performing risk assessments, producing safe systems of work etc

Knowledge of waste streams, energy conservation and environmental management principles
