Health and Safety Specialist

A growing supply chain company is seeking a Health and Specialist to join their team at their terminal located in North Vancouver, BC. This role will help ensure that safety is the top priority during every phase of project planning and execution at the terminal. This role oversees safety of contractors, ensuring a proactive approach to safety is continuously maintained. This a one-year contract, fully on-site position, and the successful candidate will report directly to the companies Health & Safety Manager.

The Role:

Leading safety planning and risk assessments by developing JSA’s, Safe Work Plans FLRA’s, permits and hazard assessments during project planning and execution.

Overseeing all contractor safety compliance and ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures.

Conducting regular site inspections and field audits to ensure safe working practices are being followed and address all non-compliance.

Investigate, mitigate and prevent incidents using HAZOP, ICAM and root cause analysis.

The Candidate:

Registered Safety Professional and/or post secondary education in Health and Safety

5+ years of Health and Safety experience in heavy industrial, construction or a terminal setting.

Experience working with and training 3rd party contractors, conducting trainings and strong communication skills.

Ability to work as a member of a team and independently when required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with ISNetworld, Work Order Systems and Incident Reporting Software.
