The ideal candidate will support the full scope of Human Resources responsibilities and partner with the organization on strategic initiatives while supporting unionized staff and management. They will maintain and enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating human resources policies, programs, and practices.
Responsibilities
Manage activities relating to staffing, employee development and training, performance management, labor relations and employee relations investigations,
Manage benefits and salary administration
Hire, train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend action
Administer pre-employment tests to applicants when applicable
Prepare reports and recommend procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover
Prepare and analyze department budget
Collaborate with various levels of management to determine areas that require improvement
Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Contributes to and drives the implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
5-10+ years experience in human resources
Experience in a unionized environment is required
Certification in Human Resource Management Professional designation such as CHRL, CIPD, SHRM is a strong asset
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
Strong recruiting and demonstrated ability to improve talent acquisition strategies
Demonstrated expertise training managers and employees
Strong organizational, critical thinking and communications skills
Attention to detail and good judgement
