Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for direction of staff education for the organization. Consults Department Directors, Human Resources, staff, and physicians on the organizations educational requirements to ensure patient and staff needs are met. Serves as a resource person to staff and management.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical / Technical Skills (40% of performance review)
Demonstrates ability to direct educational programs covering the life span; neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric population
Assists in developing and directing orientation programs, in-services and continuing education for the nursing and auxiliary staff of the organization
Interacts professionally with the nursing staff, nurse managers and other department managers to determine specific educational needs and to coordinate educational programs to meet those needs
Collaborates with Human Resources in the coordination of annual required in-services, i.e., safety, fire safety, emergency management and infection prevention and control, basic cardiac life support
Assists with the coordination of performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities
Assists in developing, coordinating, conducting and evaluating organization-wide staff development programs, seminars conferences, etc
Conducts training involving the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for new hires and existing staff
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
Required: Current, unencumbered RN license in state of employment. CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification.
Preferred: Unencumbered RN license in state of employment. Certified as CPR and/or hospital-selected de-escalation technique instructor.
Experience
Required: Three years in a behavioral health setting
Preferred: Previous experience as a clinical trainer.
