In this pivotal academic leadership role, you will support the Head of the Mayne Academy in overseeing the coordination, development, and continuous improvement of the UQ MD Program curriculum.
As a senior clinician with a passion for teaching and/or research, you will champion excellence in clinical education, working closely with Specialty Leads and Supervisors across clinical units to ensure exceptional student learning experiences. You will also contribute to strategic workforce planning, act as a key representative in Medical School and Faculty forums and foster a culture of academic development through research leadership and supervision. Key responsibilities will include:
Academic Leadership & Governance: Support the Head of the Mayne Academy in strategic and operational leadership, workforce planning, and representation in internal and external forums, including chairing key teaching and learning meetings.
Curriculum & Teaching Excellence: Lead and support curriculum development, assessment design, and teaching innovation across the MD Program, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and best practice.
Collaboration & Educational Partnerships: Work closely with Specialty Leads, clinical supervisors, and academic staff to strengthen teaching quality, develop learning materials, and enhance the student experience through evidence-based approaches.
Research, Supervision & Scholarly Practice: Contribute to educational research, supervise emerging academics, and promote the scholarship of learning and teaching to improve medical education outcomes and policy.

About You
Medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with a specialist qualification permitting registration with AHPRA and recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Postgraduate qualification (PhD or MD by research) in an area related to Medicine or medical education, or equivalent scholarly contribution.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities including strategic planning, operational management, and team building.
High-level communication skills.
A track record of research and/or teaching excellence in a clinical or academic setting.
Demonstrated expert knowledge and highly developed skills in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and involvement in continuing education.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and disciplines.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, education check, AHPRA registration, mandatory immunisations.
