Description
The Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training in Saint Lucia requests the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) School Specialist. The Department of Education is responsible for securing the safety of staff and students at all school facilities on the island of Saint Lucia.
The PCRV will collaborate with a counterpart to support the development of the necessary protocols and documents, including business continuity plans, for climate resilience, including preparation and response to emergencies that affect the education sector. The PCRV will also support the training and mentorship of the School Safety Officer, school leadership, and teachers in the integration of DRR into school curricula and activities.
The goal of this assignment is to provide support to the Department of Education to strengthen the learning environment, increase health and safety, and reduce risk factors for students and staff.
