Position Summary
The Next Steps Ministry Leader provides overall leadership and direction for the ministries under the Next Steps umbrella, including Groups & Discipleship, Outreach & Care, and Connect & Serve. This role supervises the Pastors of these ministries, ensures alignment across departments, and participates as a member of the Westerville Campus Pastoral team. The Ministry Leader is also responsible for developing key strategies and metrics that drive effective ministry and support the mission of Vineyard Columbus.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight (50%)
Provide visionary leadership and management for Next Steps ministries.
Oversee ministry priorities such as Welcome to Vineyard, Membership, Vineyard Core, IRTDMN, Serve, Leadership Onboarding, and Alpha Outreach.
Implement systems that support Vineyard Columbus' mission and values.
Outreach & Care (10%)
Supervise and support the Outreach & Care Pastor in developing classes, crisis care, coaching, and support groups.
Ensure ministry offerings are high-quality, effective, and collaborative.
Groups & Discipleship (10%)
Supervise and support the Groups & Discipleship Pastor in equipping small group leaders and strengthening the CORE discipleship pathway.
Promote consistent improvement in group structures and resources.
Connect & Serve (10%)
Supervise and support the Connect & Serve Pastor in developing volunteer engagement and integration processes.
Strengthen weekend ministry teams to ensure alignment with church mission.
General Pastoral Duties (20%)
Participate in pastoral activities including small group leadership, weekend services, membership classes, weddings, funerals, hospital visits, and special services (Ash Wednesday, Blue Christmas, conferences).
Support pastoral trainings and staff meetings. Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in church or para-church ministry.
Degree or certification in religion/theology required; advanced degree preferred.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and develop strategy.
Experience recruiting, leading, training, and supervising volunteers (3+ years).
Strong relational and communication skills with the ability to counsel and support leaders at all levels.
Deep knowledge of Scripture and demonstrated commitment to Christian faith and practice.
Intermediate proficiency in office technology tools.

Ability to speak, hear, and use hands for keyboarding.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
Close vision required.
