SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities: * Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.

* Certification as a Surgical Tech within 1 year of hire date.

* Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required.

New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.

* Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

* Ability to communicate well verbally.

Must work effectively as a member of a team.

* Basic computer knowledge * Technical and/or manual skills in relation to certified surgical technician position.

* One year of work experience in a hospital or surgery setting.

* Completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant program OR be listed as having passed CNA competency testing on the Iowa Direct Care Worker registry.

May be certified as a medic or Combat Lifesaver (through military duty) or have EMS certification as a base provider.

* Nursing assistant experience in a hospital setting preferred.
