JOB SUMMARY
The Team Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned clinic (s) and ensures clinic staff is working in compliance with PPOA's policies and procedures. This position reports to the Operations Manager and/or Practice Manager. This position is required to float amongst the DFW clinics.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Team Lead Float is assigned daily based on clinic needs and will be required to be cross trained in all aspects of clinic operations.
Clinic Management:
Assists with supervising Medical Assistant(s) to including orientation and training, provides feedback to Operations Manager and/or Practice Manager for performance reviews.
Assists with ensuring clinical staff following corporate policies, procedures, compliance program and efficient workflows.
Maintains accountability for quality patient experiences.
Serves as a resource to staff as EHR Super User.
Triage Patients
Check in and checkout of patients
Surgery scheduling of patients
Prior auth for medications
Clinic Maintenance:
Assists with monitoring clinical needs: provides ongoing staff training as needed, restocks office & medical supplies, ensures that overall clinic has necessary tools and resources to perform clinic functions
Works closely with clinical director to ensure special-equipment/supply requests are communicated in a timely manner so that resources are available and ready to use for any given appointment
Monitor schedule block time and make recommendations for effective utilization to Administrator
Compliance:
Assist with responsibility for clinic practices remaining in compliance with state and federal guidelines (e.g., fraud, abuse, and anti-kickback statutes)
Works on the clinic's behalf with related IT issues
Assist with ensuring clinic schedule and petty cash log is done efficiently and accurately
Assists Administrator with clinical staff credentialing entity to monitor current licensure, malpractice insurance, certifications, permits, DEA, DPS/CSR, BLS, etc.
Supports, encourages, and uses PPOA ancillary services
Patient Care and Customer Service:
Support the physician and all providers in the provision of care as appropriate
Assists with maintaining and holds all members of staff to the highest level of patient care
Responsible for protecting privacy and security of EMR
Assist with Overseeing EHR maintenance to ensure timely dispensation of completed charts
Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, referring physicians and their office staff, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
Assists with monitoring medical record EHR charting for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal and state rules and regulations

Duties:
Is oriented to all clinical and business office areas
Handling patient accounts and records, word processing, and scheduling of patients.
Takes patient histories and vital signs
Prepares patients for examination and/or procedures
Assists the physician and mid-level provider with examinations and treatments
Performs selected diagnostic tests as directed by the physician.
Assists physicians and mid-levels during examinations
Collects and prepare laboratory specimens, e.g. Urine Drug Screen Samples
Performs basic laboratory tests such as AccuCheck (blood sugar)
Sterilizes medical instruments as appropriate
Prepares and administers medications as directed by a physician (IM injections)
Draws blood
Removes sutures
Enters data into patients' electronic record; scans and indexes documents accurately to patients' electronic medical records
Arranges for hospital admissions and laboratory services
Greets patients
Schedules appointments
Cleans rooms between patients
Knows location of equipment and supplies
Keeps sinks clean and free of debris
Stocks supplies, patient gowns, table paper, exam gloves, antimicrobial hand washing solution, and other appropriate supplies in exam rooms
Assists patients with ambulation, transfer to and from exam table as appropriate
Performs general delivery service for the practice and runs errands as needed
Keeps kitchen clean
Keeps hallway free of clutter
Checks/empties sharps containers throughout clinic
Other duties as assigned by Clinical Practice Manager, Physician and Mid-Level provider
Deposits money as directed by PPOA Policy and procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required:
High school diploma or GED certificate
Strong ethical and moral character references
BLS certification
Medical Assistance Experience
Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication in American English
EMR experience
Basic Knowledge of Computer software
Must be able to provide proof of identity and their right to work in the United States
Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians
Ability to promote favorable clinic image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general public
Ability to make decisions and solve problems
Preferred:
Nursing (Medical) Assistant certification
Pain Management Practice prior experience
