Position Information Vacancy Number: F-00444 Position Title: Master Teacher Classification Title: Department: Curriculum, Instruction, & Technology Employment Type: Full-Time Special Instructions to Applicant: Auburn University at Montgomery announces a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position, as a Teacher in Residence hired to work specifically in the AUMTeach program as a Secondary Math or Science Master Teacher.
This is a full-time, twelve-month position.
This is a grant funded (fully soft money) position.
The Master Teacher will play an important role in advancing the recruitment and instructional endeavors of the AUMTeach program.
Responsibilities include organizing and overseeing events with the goal of recruiting students from the existing STEM student body, transfer students from partner institutions, and high schools within the state of Alabama.
Additionally, the master teacher will observe and supervise students during field experiences while fostering a strong relationship with partner school systems.
Job Duties/Primary Responsibilities: * Organize, oversee, and attend recruitment events that target junior and senior high school students, currently enrolled STEM majors at AUM, and transfer students at partner community colleges (including organization fairs and new student orientation events on campus, high school college fairs and regional college fairs throughout the state of Alabama, and transfer student at events at community colleges). * Teach AUMTeach courses including Step 1: Inquiry Approaches to Teaching, Step 2: Inquiry-Based Lesson Design, Knowing and Learning in Mathematics and Science, Perspectives of Science, History of Mathematics, Research Methods, Functions and Modeling, Classroom Interactions, Project-Based Instruction, and Apprentice Teaching.
* Observe and supervise students during field experiences and apprentice teaching in area public schools.
* Recruit, train, and retain mentor teachers within partner school systems.
* Attend the annual UTeach conference.
* Attend workshops and informational sessions held by the UTeach Institute.
* Work collaboratively with the AUMTeach team within the College of Education and College of Science.
* Develop partnerships with additional schools and community organizations to expand educational opportunities, field experiences, and potential employment opportunities for AUMTeach students.
* Participate in student support activities, including tracking students and identifying and following up with any students in danger of not completing the program.
