UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a Lead Sterile Processing Technician to support evening shift (2 PM - 10:30 PM) and night shift (10 PM - 6:30 AM). Ready to take your sterile processing skills to the next level?
Join UPMC Presbyterian as a Lead Sterile Processing Technician and help ensure every surgical team has what they need- when they need it.
This high-impact role puts you at the center of patient safety, surgical success, and team leadership.
What You'll Do: * Take charge during evenings, nights, weekends, or when leadership is off-site * Supervise day-to-day workflow, train new staff, and ensure compliance with critical safety and infection control protocols * Scrub, sterilize, assemble, and troubleshoot instrumentation and surgical trays * Serve as the go-to liaison between the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and the OR * Drive performance improvement projects and mentor team members * Participate in committees, lead professional development, and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives * Champion teamwork, diversity, and a positive, respectful work environment What It Takes: * Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy trays * Comfort with repetitive, detail-oriented tasks * A strong sense of urgency and ownership * Willingness to work every third weekend, select holidays, and occasional on-call hours * High School Graduate or equivalent required.
* Two years of central sterile processing experience required.
* Annual Project Required.
Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
