JOB SUMMARY

Performs examinations; prepares room for operation of equipment and procedures; cleans and

makes minor adjustments; and maintains inventory of linen and medical supplies in the MRI suite.

Performs any and all related duties of the MRI Department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

• ARRT (MR) or registry eligible (if registry eligible, must obtain ARRT(MR) within 12 months of hire

date or completion of cross training date).

• Hold Current Kentucky Operators License

Minimum Work Experience

• Two years experience recommended as a staff RT technologist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintains room, equipment, medicines and materials prevalent to patient care.

• Performs any and all MRI examinations in the patient scope of care. Ensures appropriate

techniques, is utilized for patient safety.

• Monitors patient and equipment during examination and reports unusual occurrences and

documents patient condition.

• Recognizes and identifies the needs and methods of treatment for patients based upon age, to

include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

• Demonstrates the ability to perform during stressful situations.

• Demonstrates competency in performing 3D recon and vurtuoso monitor task.

• Explains appropriate paperwork for MRI to the parents or guardian of all pediatric/adolescent or

compromised adult patients.

• Explains appropriate paperwork for the MRI to the adult or geriatric patient.

• Follows policies regarding consent for treatment and release of medical information regarding all

age groups.

• Demonstrates appropriate awareness for suspected abuse/neglect to all age group patients and

takes measures to report them according to protocol.

• Identifies and plans for appropriate safety precautions to be taken to prevent injury to patients.

• Demonstrates competency in communication skills and provides education to the adult and

geriatric, or to the parents or legal guardian of the pediatric, adolescent or compromised patient

based on their identified needs.

• Demonstrates competency in choosing the appropriate MRI technicians for all Age groups.

• Assist employees in other areas. Be a productive staff member at all times.

• Demonstrates courtesy and proper etiquette to patients, families, and staff members at all times

• Performs all mandatory QC on equipment following manufacturers guidelines.

• Technologist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and techniques.

• Technologist must maintain knowledge about radiation protection and safety.

• Follows policies regarding consent for treatment and release of medical information regarding all

age groups.

• Follows All HIPAA requirements.

• Identifies and plans for appropriate safety precautions to be taken to prevent injury to all patients.

• Demonstrates ability to work with equipment to produce good quality images. Have good working

knowledge of the RIS and PACS systems. Seek help with any unclear processes.

• Develop and maintain good working relationships both intra and inter departmentally; to foster

good customer relations while observing the TJ Regional mission statement.

• Use A.D.I.E.T. principals.

• Technologist must maintain continuing education and competency for optimal patient care, public

education and enhanced knowledge and technical competence.

• Assist the supervisor in day-to-day operation of the department with regard to balancing

budgetary constraints, equipment and personnel needs, and quality improvement.

• The MRI technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require rational independent

judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Radiographic

Imaging.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Technologist must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and

medical terminology.

• Maintains room, equipment, and materials prevalent to patient care at all times and assists

physicians with radiologic examinations.

• Sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of patient, uses good communication, patient

assessment, and patient care skills.

• Monitors equipment during examination and reports unusual occurrences.

• Recognizes and identifies the needs and methods of treatment for patients based upon age, to

include pediatric, adolescent and geriatric.

• Including identifying patient, use of appropriate shielding and choosing appropriate radiographic

techniques to keep radiation doses as low as reasonably achievable.

• Demonstrates courtesy and proper etiquette to patients, families and staff members at all times.
