Apply Job Type Full-time Description The Optometric Technician, under the supervision of the Site Director, supports the Optometrist in preparing patients for eye exams, conducting pre-testing procedures, and managing optical equipment and supplies.

The Optometrist Technician assists with scheduling, charting, and patient education while providing outstanding customer service throughout the patient's visit.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities * Consistently adheres to all departmental policies and procedures * Maintains high level of patient confidentiality according to HIPAA and company standards * Ensures the cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and optical equipment * Exercises excellent customer service by greeting and assisting all patients and visitors, answering questions, and guiding them through the exam process * Conducts pre-testing procedures, including but not limited to: visual acuity tests, autorefraction, tonometry, visual field testing, and retinal imaging * Reviews and updates patient medical histories and assists with charting for the Optometrist * Schedules and confirms appointments, manages patient flow, and ensures timely exam room turnover * Supports the department by stocking and organizing diagnostic tools, lenses, and other optical supplies * Performs data entry, maintains patient records, and ensures accurate documentation of test results * Coordinates with the front desk to support the patient experience * Performs other duties as assigned Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Strong understanding of optometric terminology and common eye conditions * Familiarity with ophthalmic equipment and digital imaging systems * Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a clinical environment * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and patients * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Effective computer and electronic health record (EHR) skills * Ability to explain procedures and eye care information clearly to patients * Customer service-oriented with a professional and calm demeanor * Effective computer skills * Supply inventory management skills Education, Training, and Experience * High School Diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or certification in healthcare or vision sciences preferred * Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) or other optometric technician certification preferred, or willingness to obtain * Minimum of 1 year experience in optometry, ophthalmology, retail optical, or medical office environment * Bilingual English and Spanish required
