East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Resident Director!
Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities.
Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.
As the Resident Director, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable developing and leading a residential community.
You will be an active member of the Residential Life & Housing team and will work closely with the Director to oversee all operations within your assigned building(s) to achieve departmental goals.
As the Resident Director, you will mentor and serve as a role model for student workers and the residential community members.
You will thrive in this role if you like combining your professional experience in student conduct or crisis intervention, and knowledge of higher education student affairs all while integrating the Residential Life and Housing Core Values to cultivate a continuous thriving residential community (Relationally Driven, Student-Centered, Learning Focused and Know and Be Known). To be successful in this role, you must be an excellent communicator, able to transition quickly between priorities, and have strong empathy skills.
This is a 9-month, live-in position that includes 12-mounth housing.
Summer employment opportunities are also available.
Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, however hours/shifts are flexible based on the needs of the business and will frequently require nights and weekends to be a true Resident Director.
On-call hours are mandatory.

What Will I Do At ESU?
(AKA Essential Duties) * Oversight of a large population of student Resident Advisors, which includes conducting weekly meetings, training, onboarding, hiring, evaluation and feedback on performance, development, coaching.
* Coordinate opening and closing of resident halls all while providing excellent service to students and their families.
* Manage, coordinate, and maintain hall duty rotations, desk coverage, hall openings/closings, occupancy audits, room changes, pre-arrival, break room checks, and overall health and safety inspections.
* Provide leadership during crisis in residence halls and in the greater campus community by assisting agencies such as ESU police, local fire/police depts., and other emergency services.
* Oversight of program budgets, manage key audits, roommate agreements, and other similar administrative tasks.
* Coach and mentor team members in appropriately confronting and documenting behavioral issues and concerns, and addressing student conflicts.
* Support and assist student staff with implementation and evaluation of programs within the Community Engagement Model.
What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications) * Bachelors Degree in student affairs, higher education administration, business, or other related field.
* 1+ year of post-graduate professional work experience.
* 1+ year of professional experience in student conduct and crisis intervention.
* Student tracking databases (The Housing Director, Guardian, Maxient, Banner, StarFish are preferred). * Able to function effectively in a high-energy work environment with constant demands from a variety of sources.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to lead and communicate clearly during change and emergencies.
* Able to manage relationships through collaboration; able to proactively de-escalate conflict in a positive manner.
* Understanding of individual and group development and educational interventions.
* Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
* Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
